On May 18, the artist Mauricio de Sousa was decorated with the Medal of Vermeil, an honor bestowed yearly by the French Academy of Art, Science and Letters. Created in 1915, the honor defends, stimulates and promotes French art, culture, language and the creators and talents that became prominent in these areas. Mauricio received the Medal of Vermeil and a document signed by the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, in a special ceremony held during the 20th International Book Fair in Sao Paulo.
