| The New Gods - Hephaestus
|
Hephaestus, son of Zeus and Hera, was born crippled and ugly.
Because of this, his mother hurled him from the top of Mount Olympus.
But the boy fell into the sea and was rescued by Tethys and Eurynome, who brought him up. Hephaestus became a great metalworker and was acclaimed as the God of Fire and the Forge.
Eventually Hera recognized him as her son and gave him Aphrodite's hand in marriage as a present.
